EXPEDITION TRAINING WEEKEND

Summit Guides

Learn the essential skills you need to succeed on expedition over this weekend course held in the Scottish Highlands in winter.

The Scottish Highlands in winter can be harsh - with strong winds, a snow-covered (and often wet) landscape, and sub-zero temperatures, making it the perfect training environment for overseas expeditions.

Our ever popular annual Summit Guides Expedition Training Weekend is perfect for anyone planning on joining an expedition, or even those who want a taster to see if expedition life is for them.

Summer hillwalking or rock climbing and an interest in overseas altitude expeditions

What will I get from the course?

The aim of this course will be to build on the skills necessary for summer conditions, and take that on to snow-covered terrain to prepare the team for future altitude expeditions.

Both days will be spent on the hill, and the focus will be on fun, practical learning.

An expedition-specific briefing will take place on the Saturday night, where we have an in-depth look at your expedition itinerary by a Summit Guides Leader who has extensive experience of the mountain, an overview of the kit you will need for your trip, and an altitude briefing. There will be plenty of time to ask questions!

Experienced UK Expedition Leader & local Moroccan guide supported by a cook and small mule team.

Meet your fellow team members and start to bond as a team – so you hit the ground running in country.

The on-hill syllabus includes:

The use of a harness, rope, or fixed lines depending on the requirements of your trip.
